Well, the game that has sparked considerable outrage amongst the XBox 360 crowd, and produced enough FUD to fill a presidential debate has been delayed until... what... it's not delayed? Oh, oops. It's actually done!
That's right... Unreal Tournament 3 for the PS3 has gone gold and is set to hit stores on December 11, in the United States. The PS3 version will allow the installation of any mods created for the PC version, though cross-platform gameplay is not enabled as the two versions would always have to be updated together to ensure compatibility.
Equally important for PlayStation 3 owners and game developers, is that the Unreal 3 engine has been fully ported to the PS3, taking full advantage of the advanced hardware capabilities of the system. As MANY of the big upcoming games are using the Unreal 3 engine, this should ease the pain of development for game creators and hopefully put an end to the constant delays of games coming out on the PS3.
A possible Xbox 360 port has not been announced at this time.
