(Picture coming soon.)
LG has finally released their latest drive, which takes the BD, DVD, and CD capabilities of their GGW-H20L and removes the HD DVD playback feature. The combination of fast write speed and a great low price should make this a very popular drive.

Pioneer BDR-202 (MSRP: $699) -- Amazon -- Firmware/Software Updates: Link
Pioneer second-generation burner brings 4x BD-R writing to the mix, and properly supports reading and writing of CD formats. The otherwise great drive is marred, however, by a lack of reading or writing support for dual-layer BD-R/RE media.

Panasonic's second gen desktop burner is starting to ship in the OEM channel. Given that the first generation Panasonic burner is frequently sourced as an OEM drive for PC vendors and other manufacturers, this should make faster Blu-ray recording the norm in the near future.

Although it is arriving later than originally expected, Lite-on's 4x BD burner offers fast recording speeds at a fair price. However, the specs are quite vague regarding DL media support, which has left everyone unsure about the drive's exact capabilities.
